The Junior League of Parkersburg, Inc. is commmitted to promoting voluntarism and to improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is educational and charitable.

The Junior League of Parkersburg, Inc. will have a large membership of women who are enthusiastic, cooperative, involved, cohesive team members committed to creating an organization that is a key player in the Parkersburg community and able to respond quickly and effectively to community needs. Women will seek membership and consider it a priviledge to be associated with Junior League of Parkersburg, Inc. as it will be revolutionary, futuristic, and proactive. Its members will be known as dreamers and doers of our community.

Goals and Objectives

1) Attract, train, and retain satisfied members in order to fulfill the Junior League's purpose effectively and meet member's needs.
  • Obtain 20 Provisionals for Active membership by 5/99.
  • Encourage 35% Sustainer participation in league events and activities by surveying the Sustainers to identify appropriate Sustainer activities and institutinga Sustainer profile column in the Julep by 11/98.
  • Have 75% participation in General Membership meetings and League sponsored activities and committee meetings by 5/99.
  • Provide five (5) purely social, non-obligatory events to add fun and encourage development of friendships by 5/99.
  • Develop and institute a graduated membership requirement system based on time served in the league by 5/99 to encourage longer active service.

2) Develop a more finacially sound organization.

  • Enforce membership financial obligations and time requirements in all league fund raising activities by 5/99.
  • Present a balanced budget for the 1999-2000 League year that does not require a withdrawal from savings by 5/2000.
  • Re-evaluate current fundraisers in conjunction with projected revenue in 1999-2000 from the Cookbook.

3) Heighten involvement in the community and increase corporate and community awareness of the Junior League of Parkersburg, Inc. as an organization of trained
